Hi there!

I've been studying palmistry for a few years now. I haven't started reading palms professionally yet, but I've been hired to read palms at a festival in Milwaukee next month. I'd like to get into this on a more professional basis, which is pretty much what brings me here. Any advice on making a living as a palmist would be much appreciated.

Aside from palmistry, I have many hobbies and interests. I speak fluent German and English, and have taken courses in Italian and Japanese. I have also studied hypnosis and NLP, mainly through books, videos, etc.

As for work, I am a freelance violinist. I studied violin performance in college, and I currently play various gigs throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin.

...wow this is starting to sound more like a bio than an introduction. Haha. Anyway, I'm looking forward to meeting you all and sharing information!

Cheers!
RVG

Hi Eric and a warm welcome to the community :)

Being a musician myself, I'm always pleased to hear from others and wish you well in your career.

But I have to warn you that making a living in palmistry is by no means easy, and I believe that very few manage it.  Palmistry tends to be more a hobby than a means of making money, but I would be interested to hear from other members on this.

Once again, welcome to this community

Sue :)

Sue,

Thanks for the warm welcome! And thanks for the reality check on going pro. I don't plan on it being my sole source of income, though. But I'm sure you know that music is also tough to make a living with. I'm making ends meet right now, but I'm definitely not getting rich as a starving artist lol. I figure if I can find work as a palmist as well as a musician, it would bring in more money and keep things interesting.

So what kind of a musician are you? (Instrumentalist? Singer? Teacher? Performer?) It's always fun to meet like-minded people.

Cheers!
RVG

Nice to meet you. It will be nice to hear of your adventure in Milwaukee with the festival. Undoubtedely you will have a bizarre and crazy memory from it to share with us. Reading a complete stranger can be quite a rush and a real test of skill, but I think they are more fun than reading people I have known for a hundred years.

:coolI have dabbled some in the NLP, mainly from the "success" or "personal development" side of it. When I was 21 years old I bought the "Unlimited Power" book and it talked about anchoring yourself to your desires with NLP. I have seen entire tape series at the library, but never checked one out, might have to give it a try. Nice to meet you.

I agree, strangers are quite fun to read. I like the shock value of telling somebody all about themselves after knowing them less than 5 minutes. I've had quite a few readings that were spot-on, to the point where the other person was a bit freaked out, even. That's always fun. Timing stuff on the hand is a definite crowd pleaser. :)

On the other hand (no pun intended), it's also fun to read the palms of people you know well. It can really firm up your belief in palmistry. For example, I read my mom's palms about a year ago. Her life line was chained up until the age of 17 or so, and then all of the sudden it was clear and deep (smooth sailing). You see, my mom grew up in a dysfunctional family, and moved out around that age. It was really interesting for me to actually see this so accurately reflected in her life line. My belief in the art of palmistry deepened with that experience.

NLP is a lot of fun for me. Ever since I started studying it, I've noticed a lot of people agreeing with me a lot more than usual. Good skill to have, don't you think? (see what I mean? lol) I've found that it helps with all communication, including palm readings.

Welcome, Eric, and congrats for seeking the palmistry path. Reading professionally is really like any other service - people need to find out about you. I live in California and there are many holistic fairs - I sought them out in the beginning to not only practice and seeing what 'real' hands looked like (vs my classmates' hands) but getting connected with the organizations and earning money doing it. Finding places to read, like you play violin - same thing. Letting people know you are available for whatever types of gigs you want to do. One thing I do know from my personal experience is that once I'm in front of people, they get it much better than in writing.

Good luck!

pamelah

Thanks Pamelah!

I was looking around for your interview about the heart line, but couldn't find it :darn. I did enjoy reading your interpretation in the broken heart line thread, though. You seem like a very kind and helpful person, and I'm glad you took the time to say hello :)

Cheers!
Eric

yeah, I searched all over that site, and still couldn't find it :( ... perhaps I should color in the islands on my headline or something :-p I even tried using Google to track it down, but so far no luck :(

Ah! I found it! I had to use a different browser (after hunting it down with Google).

Listening to it now... so far so good. :)

Hmmm ... interesting feedback.

Sorry Random Violin Guy, yes I see the problem now ... a link from Pamelah's profile to Jena's interview project would be usefull.

(Pfff ... so many articles and hand experts to be linked)

Anyway, soon I will introduce a search box on my website ... and then you will find the info you're looking for within seconds!

Martijn.
