I was wondering if any of you guys have got any other interests/hobbies to do with hands. For example, manicuring, hand massaging, handwriting analysis?
I was just thinking how it would be nice to offer hand massages next to a hand reading.

Hi Myshmash

I find your question interesting, because I have most definitely got an acute awareness of my own hands.   I have particularly flexible hands and fingers because I am a pianist and am aware of a strong surge of energy and heat through my hands much of the time.  To me, hands, and particularly the fingers, are refined tools which allow the unleashing of creative and associated healing energy.

I love using my hands and exercising them - its very strange how not only am I drawn to playing the piano and various other instruments, but also love typing and spent hours with a typing tutor to build up a very fast speed.  But I also make the tiniest miniatures in 1/12th and 1/24th scale which require a very delicate sense of touch.  I have always said to my husband that if I die before him, and he visits a medium to try and contact me, he will know it is truly me if I mention hands.

I have often wondered why I should have a preoccupation with hands in general - its very strange!

Very interesting point you've made MyshMash

I am a massage therapist, reiki master, reflexologist, latch hook rug maker, guitarist, handwriting analyst - (when I smoked I used to prefer to roll my own, rather than buy tailor-mades) all use extensive hand focus.

Other hobbies/interests include tarot, numerology, dowsing, 3D modelling on computer, authorship, poetry, lecturing - oh and a couple of thousand other interests - all which have much less reliance on hand focus.

I have been a video game enthusiast since I was a child; always had this strange hand-eye coordination skill with it. I wish I was a master at something more productive, like making millions of dollars. :king

Anyway, I played rock guitar as a teen and studied classical guitar technique some as an adult before having all these kids, but I still have a strong appreciation for the skilled hands of musicians.

Hi,

I found your message very interesting, I am a beauty therapist as well as a holistic therapist, I offer massage, manicures, reiki and reflexology.  I am also a secretary, read tarot and make jewellery - so very much a hands on sort of person.  I was also wondering about offering palm reading with a manicure/hand massage but I am not sure how well it will be accepted.  Good luck if you decide to do this.

I always keep my unrelated therapies and modalities separate, unless booked consecutively.

For example: If a client wishes a reading and a reiki session I will do the reading first then the healing. I they wish reflexology and a reading,  again, reading first, reflex later.

Massage and reiki, reflexology and massage/reiki can be intermixed - but I usually do only one modality rather than both. Reflexology is virtually included in a massage, reiki can be counter productive or unnecessary with a massage.

Does violin count? I'd hate to say playing violin is about the use of the hands, though... since you really do play the violin with your whole body.

I've also read up a bit on handwriting analysis, but I'm most definitely not an expert on that yet. I have a hard time reading through books that are written like dictionaries, you know? It really is interesting stuff, though.

Yes it does! And you make a great point about using the whole body. Palmistry is about the whole body too. Sure we look at the hand structure, but we look at the entire present life of a person - mental/emotional/physical - and if that ain't the whole body I don't know what is <GRIN>.

I play guitar and am learning electric bass, although I am a no where near accomplished enough to perform publicly with any instrument (oh, I forgot! except with side-drum, cymbals, or bass drum in a school marching band - but that was 35 years ago!) so I relate to the expression "whole body".

Hi,
I do agree on : "but we look at the entire present life of a person - mental/emotional/physical - and if that ain't the whole body I don't know what is <GRIN>."
But I also like to observe movements. I do not know if any of you noticed but walking and sitting pasture, can say a lot about a person.

Did any connected face futures to the hands? I found it interesting looking for similarities in peoples behavior with the same face futures and mimics. I am not really clear on the messages and connections, however I am noticing and feeling them. I guess it is a first step before I will actually learn how to identify personalities / characters.

Strange feeling to feel people. Did anyone experienced that?

I was wondering, Den, if you have a bee whorl on Venus mount. I read it somewhere that bearers of 'bee' usually play musical instruments.

Can you confirm, pls?

hansi, I've only ever seen 2 of the 'music bees' and neither of the people were musical nor played an instrument!

:cool  2 bees or not 2 bees, that is the question.

I have been staring at it for a half an hour Hansi and cannot see any whorls. The worry lines make it difficult even with ink. I will check it out in direct sunlight tomorrow, but it appears to be a big simple arch towards the center of the palm. The violin guy might be a good one to check with or even Sue, she's a musician as well. In the meantime, enjoy a little "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple

DUH DA DUH... DUH DUH DA DUH...DUH DUH DUH...DUH DA DUH... (excuse my weirdness tonight)

Great music Den! :thumbup

I have a 'bee' skin ridge pattern on the Venus mount in one hand only and yes, I'm a musician, but it's the only 'bee' I have seen making it impossible to verify

Hey All:thumbsup!

I found this thread interesting so i thought i would even share my thoughts here.

My hands are very very flexible. My friends make fun of me that i might not have bones in my hand.lol.

I am not any musician or anything but a few years back i got a electric guitar but  just played it once or twice. I even had a keyboard but i rarely played. I must say i cannot concentrate on small things. I get bore. But if its typing or hand analysing and using hands for massages then i am really good at concentrating.

I hope i become a detailed oriented person as i take interest in hand analysing!

Hi there,

Strangely enough, with my shortish fingers, I play piano and I can type 90 wpm. I love music and can't live without it, but I have no whorls, bees,.. just a loop of industry.

Anyway, massage is good on the hands of labourers with really stiff, muscular hands. Often some men complain about their aching hands from manual work and the massage relieves the stiffness and joint pain. I find it difficult to massage hands that are soft and weak looking. I only offer the massage to the ones that look and feel like they really need it!

Hi Saage,

About every guitar teacher I had possessed small hands; amazing to watch them stretch those little fingers to make impossible chords; all in the mind as you know. Interesting how many of us love and play music.

Hi Jasmine,

Everyone has different gifts and abilities. Guitar has frustrated many people, most give up when they have to make the "F" chord. I had a burning desire to play Led Zepplin, which made me overcome the immense pain of learning. Anyways, nice to have you share your thoughts with the rest of us.

Hi there,

I would love to play guitar, I recently scored one for $5.00 at a yard sale and went ahead and bought a how to play dvd. Now I just need to watch it and find some time on my hands.

I don't have small hands, but my fingers are somewhat short (a violin teacher called them 'farmer fingers') Hah, funny that.

Gotta love those music teachers. They know our psychology don't they?

:)Hardly a farmer's hand Saage, but I can see the practicality dimension. Now I have seen some rough looking hands at my customer's sites; some of the women at the Avon factory look like they could strangle a grizzly bear.

Time is the enemy for music lovers. The only action my guitars get these days are my little girls plucking the daylights out of them. Someday I hope to play on a more regular basis. The song "House of the Rising Sun" is what I always recommend people to start with on guitar, it teaches you all the beginner chords and very fun to play too. Oddly enough people often lose interest because they cannot stand trying to tune it all the time. Anyway, hope the guitar speaks to your soul someday, it is great for "decompressing".

Den, Time is the enemy of all the hobbylovers.

I find myself working too hard not to find some time to pursue my hobby - even palmistry. Sometimes I have 15 minutes of time in hand and I just sit and stare at the palmistry book because I dont know where to start.

I also love painting - just amateurish paintings and again, I seem that I have loads of other stuff to do than pursue my hobby.  I know what I am going to do when I retire and if I have some million dollars in my bank account -- palmistry and painting :thumbsup

I can relate Hansi. By the time I get everyone to bed, I am too tired to study the hand books also. However, I did get a new book on "Lifeprints" so I have stayed up late last couple of nights trying to map out my fingerprints. I personally have not painted much, but I think it would be tremendous relaxation exercise.
