Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor had an opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: One morning, she realized she was having a massive stroke. As it happened -- as she felt her brain functions slip away one by one, speech, movement, understanding -- she studied and remembered every moment. This is a powerful story about how our brains define us and connect us to the world and to one another.
This talk is 18 minutes long but worth viewing, absolutely fascinating.

Very very interesting this. After watching this my boyfriend ordered the book she wrote. I still have to read it (when I get the time) but he said it's great.
That website (http://www.ted.com) is full of interesting talks and speeches and what not, have a look.

Video is informative.
In Vedic astrology, Right eye and right side of the body is ruled by the Sun and Left eye and left side of the body is ruled by the moon.
It may means that left brain is ruled by sun as it controls right side of the body and right brain is ruled moon as it controls left side of body.
The middle section of brain (communicater and link between two half hemisphere of brain) which control both part of brain is ruled by Jupiter (Wisdom) as per vedic astrology.
The spinal cord 'nerves' is ruled by both Nodes of moon which has power to eclipse (paralysis) both luminaries (left and right brain).
These nodes can be only be overcome by jupiter so it is adviced in vedic astrology to do meditation and activate and re-strength jupiter the center part of brain.
Left and right brain is strengthen and control by breathing exercise called 'pranayam'.
I think this vedio and vedic astrology might have some links.
Best wishes,
Vijay Goel

Hi Lynn,
Thank you for posting Jill Bolte Taylor talk. I wonder if she has palm lines that would represent her change of perception?
What kind of lines would that be?
Would it be a Head Line?

Thanks Lynn!
Maybe it is interesting to notice her that Jill Bolte Taylor was listed in The 2008 Time 100, as no.3 in the category 'the world's most influential scientists & thinkers', see:
http://www.time.com/time/specials/2007/article/0,28804,1733748_1733754_1735211,00.html
The video is also mentioned in the review of her work:
"... In 2006 she published her book, A Stroke of Insight, about her experiences and brain science as a field. Through her writings and lectures, she has done perhaps more than anyone else to explain, both to the healthy and the stricken, what a stroke is. ..."

Dear Vija,
your statement is very interesting, specially about Jupiter! - what do you say, if Jupiter is redrograd?
I also work with the assignment right hand to the sun and left hand to the moon, even with left handers.
Kind regards
Manfred

Dear Manfred,
The retrogression ( & many other factors) of planets conveys about the statusmoods (avastha) they are holding.
Status here means , mature or baby status, young ,old, angry or frustation, happy mood etc. These classification are mentoined clearly in vedic astrology classics.
As per your question, retrogression of jupiter makes the person more keen to religious philoshopy yet he will in rejecting it, out of frustration and keeps on testing. It can also lead to fanatism.
Please also note that spinal cord is signified by rahuketu 'nodes of moon' as stated earlier.

Best Wishes,
Vijay Goel

Dear Vijay,
here are some ideas about the retrogression of Jupiter:
1) I think there is something true to think retrogression is an expression and sometimes in the first part of life a hidden, not to the end coming gift from a former life, something we should bring to an end or to complete in this life.
2) I also found there is something true that people with a retrograde Jupiter have in anyway a link to gipsies.
3) The most of the wellknown German chirologists like C.B. Carus, J.Spier and others have an r. Jupiter (or a strong connection with retrogression like Dr. Ch. Wolff who has a Jupiter/Mercury.r. conjunction) in the birthchart.
Regards
Manfred

[vijay] It is said that person has born to complete the uncomplete work of last life which the retrograte planet indicate. In the other way round we can say that person is in hurry to finish the work of the said planet.
2) I also found there is something true that people with a retrograde Jupiter have in anyway a link to gipsies.
[vijay] I am not sure about this, as in India their is no Gipsies.

[vijay] Jupiter, mercury conjunction normally indicate to carry on the teachings and further development which was learnt by the teacher.
This is a combination for teacher-student relationship tradition.
First the good student than becomes good teacher and than makes good students. Now any planet retro will make this combination more powerful.
Thanks
Vijay Goel

I find both these statements interesting and would like to hear more about it. How are you defining 'gipsies'? It is usually used to describe Romanies, but I think these days it has wider definition. I thought original term Gypsies was used for people who came from Egypt via India to Europe - please correct me if wrong. Last edited on Fri Oct 24th, 2008 12:56 pm by Lynn

Dear Lynn,
a half year ago I read in a scientific report that serious academically researchers found by DNA analysis that the Sinti and Romas originally came from Northern India / Pandschab. - But may be in connection with the redrogression of Jupiter "Gypsy" means more, former moving around people may be like Jews, too.
In addition to Vijay: It seems to me (by my perception), that redrogression is more likely to appear in the left hand.

It is very much surprising that Gyspy and their language is totally lost from India, if they have travelled from northern India (in 14th century!)
Our history has treasured many much more old records.
Country of more than 6700 local dialacts and many languages, far more than the total number of language in the world, just lost gypsy in the way cannot be easily digestable.
-----------------
I also think retrogression will be represented in left hand as it will show as a passive instinct, the inner nature.
