Mr Gurrieri underwent tests and was found to have acromegaly - caused by a tumour in the pituitary gland which leads to excess growth hormone. Mr Gurrieri thought his hands were getting bigger because of too much DIY and working in his restaurant kitchen. In January surgeons removed most of the 2cm benign tumour growing at the base of his brain.

Thanks Martijn. I am not aware of having received the email newsletter - but I've been away and if it was a mass mailing maybe my email provider deleted is as spam before I had chance to see it! ;-)

Thanks Martijn, I just checked my email and it is there 
(edit) PS it arrived to my inbox, not in the junk mail - hotmail delete junk about once a week, so I thought maybe they deleted it before I saw it. I checked my deleted items in case I had accidentally deleted it in my post-holiday stupor, but no ...seems it just didn't arrive first time. But I have it now, thanks :-)

Hi Martijn,
Thank you for the latest updates on the hands in news. Regarding FBI collecting hand prints it is true and for almost 6 years. Anyone who is applying for U.S. citizenships have to do not just finger prints but palm prints. They also they also taking children's finger prints every year through schools. who knows may be in the close future they will be taking their hand prints as well.Last edited on Sat May 24th, 2008 02:06 am by Helen B

Yes, Helen ... there is a lot going on in the world related to security matters & fingerprints ... and I think it is very likely that in the coming years these delevopments will enter enter our lives in multiple manners - passports, pay methods, and maybe several other applications.

Actually, we discussed the 'authenticity' of the HandPrint in a recent discussion, where various similarities between the HandPrint and photo's of Benazir Bhutto's hand are being noticed.
