Browsing through the mind, body and spirit section of my local library, a solitary book on palmistry caught my eye, so I picked it up.  I was expecting to see all the usual things in this book like developing intuition, becoming psychically aware .... all the usual stuff that palmistry is generally associated with when you don't know much about it.  I didn't have much faith that the book would tell me much, if I'm brutally honest.  Palmistry at that time was, for me, one of those subjects that was a bit of fun, but surely not to be taken too seriously.  It didn't actually MEAN anything, did it? So I didn't read through the book from the first page, but picked out pages to read at random.  Interesting stuff, but I took it all very lightly.

But then I read an interpretation in the book that absolutely fitted my husband (now ex) to a tee.  So I said to him, "Can I just have a quick look at your hand?" and he put his hand out, palm upwards for me to see, while carrying on watching his programme on the TV.  I thought to myself that if palmistry had anything about it at all, then surely he would have this particular feature, because it was such a prominent aspect of his nature.  Well, you could have knocked me over with a feather, because there it was, in his hand!  I very quickly checked my own hand - no - it wasnt' there, but it was in his, and the interpretation was spot on!  Hmmmmmm.....

So I went back to my chair and started reading some more.  There was lots of general stuff, but then I saw another feature whose interpretation I could relate to very closely as being specific to my husband.  "Can I look again?" I asked him.  Out came his hand, and there it was! That very hand feature was there in his hand, and again, did not feature in my own hands.  Now I was beginning to become really interested and for the first time began to wonder if there was more to palmistry than I had previously given it credit for.  And the really good news was that I hadn't had to use any intuition or psychic ability at all.  It dawned on me then that I could LEARN palmistry just by studying it in depth.  A new project .... and I just love new projects!

But what really stood out for me at this time was that for some years I had been blaming myself for any difficulties in our relationship, mainly because my ex was telling me that it was my fault for this, and my fault for that. And here, in this book, it was being confirmed to me that it wasn't all my fault - that some of the intuitive feelings I had about him were real and not imaginary.  And that somehow gave me more confidence in myself.  I began to trust my intuition, which previously I hadn't allowed myself to do since starting the relationship.  This was a real turning point for me, so palmistry became particularly interesting and I wanted to know more.  Learning palmistry at that time was, for me, very necessary in order to put my life into some kind of order and I suppose, looking back, that this is why I launched myself head first into a really in-depth study.

But it was confusing!  I would read this, and I would read that and there was confusion after confusion.  I particularly remember, after quite a long time of study, actually throwing a book down in contempt, wondering if I was wasting my time.  So many apparently conflicting ideas and theories - should I be learning this subject at all?  And for a couple of weeks I would fill my mind with other things, but I kept being pulled back - I just couldn't let the subject go.  There had to be more to it, so I kept on studying... and studying .....  and studying and gradually, oh so gradually, it all began to fit together.  And like in any subject, the deeper you go, the more interesting it becomes, so it was inevitable that I would take the subject as far as I have.

Palmistry is very accurate, there is no doubt in my mind about that.  When I see people scoff at palmistry, and throw the subject away as if it belongs only to those who must be deluding themselves, I feel sad, really sad in the knowledge that they are passing off such an incredibly useful subject.  I can't stress enough how worthwhile it is to study palmistry, but I do know how confusing it can be in the early days, and I do know that it can take quite a while to 'trust' what you are seeing in a person's hand and even more, to 'trust' your ability to interpret it.

My own thoughts are that if you are interested in palmistry, and learning not just how to read and interpret hand features, but also in learning HOW palmistry can help you in your daily life, then take some hand prints and begin to study the differences between them.  It's fascinating!

Sue :)

Sue, do you consider that palmistry guides our lives or our lives guides the lines on our palms?

To me, it is the later. In that sense, I never thought there is anything occult in palmistry.

I must admit to having a lot of fun seeing the disconcerted faces at my work-place among the managers and co-workers when they finally realise I can tell a lot about them just by observing their hands at a distance.

My own personal manager now hides his hands when we are in such meetings after I snap-analysed him, including his love of a particular variant of music, from only a quick glance during a lull in proceedings.

I proposed teaching the selection committees of personnel to 'invisibly' read hands to improve their very low success rate in getting suitable employees. I have not heard back from them yet - we'll see.

Good question cheiro8.

I see hands change: lines move, shorten or lengthen, colour deepens etc. This all happens when someones will power is asserted and changes occur to the life - or will power is repressed and other changes occur.

Regard the hands as an architect's blue-print or a cartographer's map: if the owner wants to make changes to his house or the town-planner wants to rezone an area, the architect or mapmaker make changes to the charts/maps. The builders then make the buildings according to the whole adjusted chart/map.

The hand is the blue-print for the brain - the robot that follows instructions. The mind is the owner/architect that makes changes and adjustments little by little, and the hands reflect those changes.

My experiences, studies and observations over the last 20 years support my view point.

To simplify: the mind guides the lines and the body/brain/life follows the lines.

P.S. I hope I haven't confused you <GRIN>
