I do not know about the scars, but I have always admired the connection that American Indians have with the earth and nature in general.
I did get attacked years ago in my twenties by a mean dog, I think it was a boxer. Anyway, I was selling door to door and the little demon hit the screen door and knocked it open. Scared the be-jesus out of me. No permanent scars luckily, but it was quite a battle on their front porch.
Philisophically speaking, I cannot imagine how a physical scar could be read. By theory, the lines we read are created and changed by our thoughts. It would be interesting to note if the attack registered on the hand in the form of crossbars, stars, or breaks in the major lines.

Well, the reason why I asked, I was beaten by squirrel in my teen, and I have a scar on the right palm coming from Big Finger towards the Life Line.
The interesting thing is that scar is not changing a lines, however it is marking a white area on the palm (scar shape) and it is inside (under the skin and lines).
Regarding your experience with the dog, I am sorry. I know how you feel (I was beaten by dogs 4 times in my life) Defiantly not a pleasant experience, however was very educational for me.
